"NIGHT" SHOTS AT NIGHT Part 5

This is Part 5 (the FINAL part) of a multi-part series of photos showing the cemetery from NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD as it is today in Evans City, PA....just in the middle of the night. This was the idea of my buddy Daz Spooky and I have to give him all the credit for this idea and showing me how to take these fantastic photos. Through long exposure settings and the use of a tripod, you can see and photograph the cemetery at night. In fact the longer the exposure, the more it looks like daytime. It's weird and interesting, I hope you like what you see. No photographs have been altered in any way. These are the shots exactly as the camera captured them.

Here we start with a view of the front of the chapel where Johnny and Barbra drive to and park their car. Each photo was taken between 2am and 4 am September 2, 2013.

This first photo shows the headlights of my car illuminating the chapel so that I can get the picture in focus. Then they are turned off and different photos are taken with different exposure settings. The brightest ones have the longest exposure making it seem like daylight on an overcast day. Shorter exposures come out darker and even darker the shorter the length.

Another view of the chapel from over by the area of Barbra and Johnny's fathers's grave. This first photo shows the headlights of my car illuminating the chapel so that I can get the picture in focus. Then it is turned off and different photos are taken with different exposure settings.

There's my buddy Daz Spooky setting up some shots with his camera at the
Kramer stone, remember these photos are taken in almost complete darkness.

And finally, more random shots of some recognizable places from different angles.

THE END...FINALLY!

"NIGHT" SHOTS AT NIGHT Part 4

This is Part 4 of a multi-part series of photos showing the cemetery from NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD as it is today in Evans City, PA....just in the middle of the night.

Here we start with the spot in front of the chapel where Johnny and Barbra drive to and park their car. Each photo was taken between 2am and 4 am September 2, 2013.

This first photo has the longest exposure making it seem like daylight on an overcast day. Shorter exposures come out slightly darker.

I decided to take a pic of myself there. Again, since these photos are taken with long exposure times, I have to sit there motionless for up to 30 seconds while the camera absorbs all the ambient light and the image. If I move, I will become blurry, so I have to remain completely still.

Here we have a view of the chapel from the road in front of it, you can pretty much see this view in the movie as Johnny and Barbra walk up to their father's grave site. Longest to shortest exposure times are shown.

This should be familiar to everyone. This the stone which Barbra cowers beside while her brother Johnny wrestles with the cemetery zombie. Longest to shortest exposures are shown.

Outside the cemetery we have this entrance seen here in the film. At the beginning, we see Johnny and Barbra's car enter this driveway. The first photo is of the light captured from my brake light on my car illuminating the spot with a slightly longer than average exposure.

Here is a slightly long exposure and a car had drove by with it's headlights on causing light streaks and almost too much light to be present.

The exposure here is very short, but you can still see a bit.

"NIGHT" SHOTS AT NIGHT Part 3

This is Part 3 of a multi-part series of photos showing the cemetery from NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD as it is today in Evans City, PA....just in the middle of the night.

Here we start with the grave site of Johnny and Barbra's father. They visit with him here and leave a cross with flowers on it for him. Each photo was taken between 2am and 4 am September 2, 2013.

This first photo has a headlight shining on the scene with a slightly long exposure. This is where I find my focus for the shots with no light.

I wanted to get into a few of these photos, so I positioned myself and had to stand still for twenty or thirty seconds otherwise I would be blurry in the photo. The long exposures would blur any movement. I then set a timer or use a remote control to activate the camera when I was ready. Remember these are taken in pitch black dead of night.

Here we have a series of shots showing the cemetery ghoul played by Bill Hinzman walking among the tombstones, You can match many stones in the shots from the movie to the photos I took on this night. I did not get exact angles for these unfortunately, please excuse me, I was going off of memory and not looking at anything for reference.

Here we have the cemetery ghoul about to attack Barbra. Again, you can match many tombstones in each shot.
